Fat Shack Is Jumping Into The Shark Tank

News & Events

Watch on ABC to see how they navigate the waters

We love to see our clients’ businesses grow! What started out as a small sandwich shop in New Jersey, is now a flourishing fast-casual restaurant chain with the investment of Shark Tank’s Mark Cuban.

Tom Armenti first began selling fat sandwiches out of a small bagel shop in New Jersey. Tom creatively struck up a deal with the shop owner so that he could use the facility to sell his sandwiches at night after the bagel shop had closed down for the day. Thus, Fat Shack was born. As business began to amplify, Tom decided to move shop across the country to Fort Collins, Colorado where he would open the first of many full Fat Shack stores. Realizing Fat Shacks’s potential for expansion, he decided to partner up with Kevin Gabauer and together, they have opened up 13 Fat Shack stores across the United States.

In May, 2019 Tom and Kevin seized the opportunity to appear on ABC’s Shark Tank. They introduced their story and many of their fat sandwiches to the Shark Tank investors and the rest of the world watching. As the Sharks bit into the sandwiches filled with chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, french fries and late-night munchie goodness, they seemed taken aback at how tasty these 2,000 calorie treats were. After some negotiating, Tom and Kevin accepted Mark Cuban’s offer of $250,000 for a 15% stake in the company. Although Cuban typically invests in healthy eating, he was convinced that Fat Shack would be a great addition to his portfolio. “Done. Let’s go get fat,” Cuban said.

H1 Web Development built Fat Shack's website about 2 years ago, and continues to manage their web presence today. We're excited to see Fat Shack reap all the rewards from their hard work. Congratulations!
